Dr. Megan Brunn, DVM
Dr. Megan Brunn has dedicated her career to providing high-quality, accessible surgical options for feline and canine patients. Originally from Columbus, Indiana, she earned her degree from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and honed her surgical expertise at Arlington Heights and Pets Alive before establishing her own clinic. At Purrs and Paws, Dr. Brunn delivers expert spay/neuter and soft-tissue surgery with the personal touch of a community vet. Known for transparent pricing and a compassionate demeanor, she is a trusted choice for Indiana families. Her life at home is centered around her husband, Yoni, and a lively household of two dogs, five cats, and three horses.

We are not a 24 hour emergency facility, but if we are able to, we will accommodate same day or after hours procedures. We do not hospitalize patients overnight. We offer these procedures as a last resort for those that can't afford surgery at facilities more designed to handle these types of emergencies. These conditions must be first diagnosed by another hospital/doctor and a 50% deposit taken before scheduling the procedure.

What to Expect for Your Surgery Appointment

Fasting Instructions: Please ensure your pet has no food after midnight before surgery. Water is allowed and encouraged to keep them hydrated. The exception is puppies and kittens 3 months or less, they can have a small snack (about 1/4 what they would normally get) the morning of surgery.

Drop-off Window: We welcome you and your pet between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM on the day of surgery to ensure a smooth check-in process. Please bring any rabies certificates or current medications at this time if you did not include this information in the consent form sent to you.

Check-in: Please enter the front door. If the inner door is locked, there is a black doorbell to the left of the door. Our assistants will confirm services and ask standard pre-surgery questions. They will give you an estimated pick-up time, however, please keep your phone close in case we finish early or are delayed.

Care & Comfort: Your pet is in safe hands. During surgery, we prioritize pain control with multi-layered medications to keep them calm and comfortable. Dogs have a 3'x8' kennel for space. Cats we keep in a room with a Zenifel diffuser gel and far away from the dogs.

Going Home: Pick-up usually occurs in the late afternoon ~4 PM. You'll receive full instructions for home care to ensure a peaceful recovery. We will see our surgeries as rechecks and encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. If you seek care elsewhere, we do not reimburse costs.
